Dressed to sell.
Possibly Justin Gignac’s idea sprang from the provocative claim that “if you package it right you can sell even garbage”: the artist has collected the litter left in Times Square after the 2000 New Year’s Eve party and sold it after boxing it up in small transparent plastic boxes.
After eight years 200 cubic metres of litter have been sold in over 25 countries, thanks also to a dedicate website.
The news, associated with the Piero Manzoni’s Artist’s Shit concept, is likely to revive the long-standing debate on the predominance of package over contents.
